I Tried Guy Fieri's Spiced Mango Sorbet Sparking Water

And it was weird, but okay?

I Tried Guy Fieri's Spiced Mango Sorbet Sparking Water

I'm still trying to figure out exactly what this website will be, but the instant I saw Guy Fieri was doing bubbly water collabs, I knew I would write about it here. They both weirdly entered my life at the same time.

When LaCroix first started popping off, I had recently moved out of my parents house and was buying my own groceries for the first time. Sparking water sounded like a great way kick soda–until I tasted it. Woof. Determined to like it, I forced myself to power through and acquire the taste. Nowadays, I have a never-ending supply of cans in my fridge and I get excited about new flavor drops.

Norman Osborne saying "You know, I'm something of a seltzer expert myself."

And then there's Guy Fieri. Around the same time, I got really into the Food Network. I was watching hours of it every day. Good Eats with Alton Brown was and still is my favorite, but I also loved Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives with Guy Fieri. The more I've learned about him, the more I've come to like him. He seems like a genuine good dude, and I think I owe some of my willingness to try weird food to him.

Anyway, seltzer. Or sparkling water. I don't know the difference.

Spiced Mango Sorbet is an ambitious flavor to pull off with seltzer. I think they mostly got it right, which is impressive. The first flavor that hits my mouth is a bit of spice. It's not spicy, but you can tell there are spices. Or at least an attempt to mimic spices. Which spices? That I can't tell you–it's not strong.

The mango comes in next and it's also not super strong. Whatever's happening with the "spice" flavor is kinda holding back the mango flavor a bit. I'm not sure I would be able to call it out as mango in a blind taste test. And it all wraps up with a perfume-y after taste that I don't particularly love. It substantially downgrades the experience.

Overall, I wouldn't say this is my favorite Waterloo flavor–that would be Tropical Fruit or Lemon Lime. However, it is much more interesting than most sparkling water flavors. I'm not mad about having seven cans left to drink, and I'll probably try Guy's other flavors: Lemon Italian Ice and Huckleberry Cobbler.

Keep trying weird stuff, Guy. I'm here for it.
