Doritos Pizza
Don't forget the Cool Ranch dipping sauce.
This is one of those situations where I stare at the blank screen thinking, "what can I even write about this one?" Like, it's Doritos on pizza. You get it.
The idea came from the mind of my 6-year-old son, but I can't deny it immediately sounded amazing to my 35-year-old brain, too. His favorite chip at this precise moment in time–it will change 5 minutes after I post this–is Nacho Cheese Doritos. Personally, I'm a fan of the underrated Taco flavor, but it's hard to beat the classic Nacho Cheese. I also wanted to give Cool Ranch some love, so I used it to make dipping sauce.
You can probably guess how this pizza came together. It's just good ol' tomato sauce and mozzarella with Doritos layered on top. I added the Doritos about halfway through the bake to make sure they didn't get too crispy. For the dip, I literally just blitzed up some Cool Ranch Doritos and mixed the dust with mayo.
I have to say, it's rare that a pizza has a crunchy topping, but I'm always happy about it when it's there. Definitely an underutilized pizza texture. I was reminded of the Nacho Pizza in all the best ways. And the dip was..okay. Pepsi really needs to sell Cool Ranch powder.
