Breadsticks Combo Pizza
The best of both words, in one pie.

On the rare occasion that I order pizza, there is a 100% chance I'm getting breadsticks with it. Yet, I've never really considered making breadsticks at home. But why not? Breadsticks at most places are just pizza dough with cheese on top. I can do that.
I wasn't planning to write about pizza tonight, though. I was going to make a pretty basic pepperoni and green olives pizza—a favorite around here. After I'd flattened out the dough, I was just about to put sauce down when I had a random idea. What if made pizza on one half and breadsticks on the other?

So, that's exactly what I did. I'll be honest, the pizza sauce in the fridge had gotten moldy. I really need to start freezing small portions so I don't have a big jar in the fridge for weeks on end. Anyway, I called an audible and used Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce instead.
For the breadsticks side, I simply covered the dough in garlic-onion olive oil and mozzarella cheese. I don't know if this actually did anything, but I kinda smooshed the cheese into the dough a bit, too. Oh, and I made the pizza on parchment paper this time because I had a pizza peel transfer incident two weeks ago. Don't ask.

Not to toot my own horn, but this idea worked incredibly well. It was super easy to do and both sides came out perfect. The pizza was, well, pizza, and the breadsticks were crispy and cheesy. Honestly, I think having breadsticks just makes pizza better. I will absolutely be doing this more often.
